You will write and test code that allows computer applications and software programs to function properly. You will turn the program designs created by software developers and engineers into instructions that a computer can follow. In addition, you may test newly created applications and programs to ensure that they produce the expected results.
You will determine and formulate policies and provide the overall direction of companies or private and public sector orgazations within the guidelines set up by a board of directors or similar governing body. You will plan, direct, or coordinate operational activities at the highest level of management with the help of subordinate executives and staff managers.
You will perform enginerring duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and mainenance of buliding structures, and facilities, such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, water and sewage systems, and waste disposal units.
You will set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or plastic material.
You will set up, operate, or tend drilling machines to drill, bore, ream, mill, or countersink metal or plastic pieces.
You will set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This field includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. You may also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying your knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
You will set up, operate, or tend more than one type of cutting or forming machine tool or robot.
You will install, repair, and maintain mechanical regulating and controlling devices, such as electric meters, gas regulators, thermostats, safety and flow valves, and other mechanical governors.
